ALLEN — Missed opportunities.

That’s what it came down to for the Indianola Warriorettes Thursday night when they took on the Weleetka Lady Outlaws.

After winning their district last week, the undersized Indianola team was ready to surprise yet another team with their controlled style of basketball, but a win wasn’t in the cards, as Weleetka gave the Warriorettes their first loss of the post-season with a 69-65 victory.

Alisha Tolman got things rolling for the Warriorettes with a 3-pointer from her favorite corner 30-seconds into the contest.

From there, Weleetka and Indianola began exchanging blows. But a half-court buzzer beater from the Lady Outlaws had the home team up 37-33 heading into the second.

From there, again it became a back and forth battle, as Princess Arpoika scored eight and Lacy Milligan seven to keep the Warriorettes in the contest at the half with a score of 37-33.

Coming out in the third it became evidently clear that Indianola was going to have problems.

As the Warriorettes missed numerous lay-ups and half of their free-throws in the second half the door opened for Weleetka.

Even with the missed opportunities, the Warriorettes did not go away, pestering the Lady Outlaws until the very end, ultimately losing 69-65.

Arpoika finished the contest with a game-high 24 points. Milligan scored 16 points and Leslie White also reached double digits with 10 points.

The Warriorettes play Clayton tonight at 6:30 at Antlers.
