Arapaho 53,

Pittsburg 42

Things just did not go as planned for the Lady Panthers Thursday afternoon as they faced the 25-7 Arapaho Lady Indians in the first round of State.

While the Lady Panthers were able to keep up with their foe in the first, helped out by a Jenna Harris 3-pointer and six points from Audrey Whitmore, it was the second quarter play from Arapaho that began to seperate the two teams.

Up 15-13 by the end of the first, the Lady Panthers began to see their lead slip away as Madison Cabbanis began to make a little bit of a run.

The Lady Indians outscored the Lady Panthers 12-5 in the quarter, closing the half with a 25-20 lead.

In the third quarter, Pittsburg held its own, as Vanessa Brown scored four points.

But after trailing 36-31 to start the final quarter of play, the Lady Indians controlled the contest as they finshed up with a 53-42 victory.

Whitmore led the Panthers with 13, while Andrea Richardson finished in double digits with 11 points.

Glencoe 42, Red Oak 34

Lane Adams was the only Eagle to reach double digits in Red Oak’s first-round loss to Glencoe Thursday night.

In a game that saw numerous Red Oak fouls, Gavin Statham was sidelined at the 4:40 mark of the first quarter due to three fouls, before his team had scored a bucket.

After a Paul Hardaway bucket to get the Eagles on the board, Red Oak trailed 802 after one full quarter of play.

In the third quarter, the Eagles began to put points on the board. After Jesse TheBoy put up four quick points, Dustin Coffey drilled one from behind the 3-point line.

Two more treys from Adams and the Eagles were within 23-15 at the half.

But the deficit was just too much for the Eagles to overcome in the second half.

After another Adams’ 3-pointer with 15.6 seconds remaining in the third, Red Oak was within 25-21, but a 17-13 final quarter ended the Eagles’ spectacular season with a 23-7 record.

Adams led the Eagles with 16 points, while TheBoy and Hardaway each finished with five points.

Stonewall 65, Crowder 52

For the Demonettes, things could not have started off any better and ended any more wrong.

Jumping out to an early 11-6 lead, the Lady Longhorns went on a 20-6 run to take the 27-21 lead at the half.

Jumping out the Demonetets got to within 36-33 thanks to teh 3-point shooting from Havyn Harness, but too many turnovers and too many made shots from the Longhorns allowed the visitors to maintain their lead after three.

From there the momentum was all in the possession of Stonewall (29-2).

In the final quarter of Crowder’s 27-2 season, the Longhorns saw their lead swell, ultimately winning the contest by a score of 65-52.

In the final game, Rashena Smith led all scorers with 29, while fellow senior Laura Harris finished the contest with 12 points.
