The McAlester 7th, 8th and 9th grade girls’ basketball teams hosted Ada Monday for a triple-header of games at Bob Brumley Gymnasium.

The 7th grade game went down to the wire as McAlester held on for a 25-23 win. Rayna Smith led the winning effort with nine points in the game.

Jami Steidley led the 8th grade team with eight points in a 29-16 loss.

The freshmen girls had control of their game throughout and went on to win 22-13.

McAlester was on top 4-2 after one quarter and increased its lead to 15-6 at halftime. The Lady Buffs outscored the Lady Cougars 4-2 again in the third and cruised to the nine-point victory.

McAlester was led by Whitney Anderson with nine points. Lesley Huff finished with seven, Brittnie Reeves had six and Morgan Deerinwater had two.

The seventh and eighth grade boys and girls are scheduled to play at home Thursday against Checotah with a scheduled start time of 4 p.m.
