Two McAlester athletes will be representing their school and town on the national level.
Taylor Kelley and Tucker Barnett of the McAlester Runners Club successfully qualified for the AAU Junior Olympic Games July 26-Aug. 3 in Greensboro, N.C.
Kelley had a mark of 9:01.34 and finished third in the 2000-meter steeplechase on at the June 28-30 AAU Region 16 qualifier in Tulsa.
Barnett ran a time of 1:15.41 in the 400-meter hurdles and finished sixth in the event. The top six qualify for the Junior Olympic Games.
