Wilburton scored in five out of six total innings, beating Elk’s Lodge in Wednesday’s coed Division-2 softball semifinal, 15-7, at the Pittsburg County Softball Complex in McAlester.

Bruce Fry led off the top of the fifth inning by drilling a pitch all the way to the fence in center field. By the time Elks Lodge’s outfielders chased it down, Fry had rounded all three bases and scored standing up for an inside-the-park solo home run and a 9-5 Wilburton lead.

The home run sparked a four-run inning for Wilburton, with Donna Alexander following Fry with a single past Elks Lodge shortstop Kyle Battles. Barney Davis doubled to left, then Ian Folsom drove in Alexander and Davis with a single two batters later.

Kim Moore popped out for the second out of the inning, but Ronnie Davis singled in Barney Davis for a 12-5 lead.

Elks Lodge couldn’t score in the bottom of the fifth, wasting a leadoff double from Battles with a double play in which Regina Cook grounded out to shortstop, then first baseman Moore threw to Kyle Jiles at third for the tagout. And in the top of the sixth, Wilburton tacked on three more runs.
