Summer tennis lessons 

McAlester Parks and Recreation’s Summer Tennis Lessons will begin on Monday, June 1 and end on Thursday, July 9. The program will include beginner, intermediate and tournament level sessions at a cost of $40 and Chad Waller will be the Summer Tennis Director. You may sign up for the program by coming by the Stipe Recreation Center at 801 N. 9th or calling (918)421-4922 or (918)423-9268. You may also sign up for the program by coming by the Chadick Park Tennis Courts at 4th & Chadick St. on the morning of June 1.

Learn to Swim 

The City of McAlester Parks & Recreation will be enrolling children for the American Red Cross “Learn to Swim” program.  The swimming lessons will be available in several different sessions during the mornings and the evenings for children from 6 months on up.  The cost will be $40.00 per two-week session — Monday through Thursday. The first session will begin June 8–8.  

Also, there will be a one week adult “Learn to Swim” class.  The cost will be $50 and will be July 6-9 from 7-9 p.m.

More swimming sign ups

The City of McAlester, Parks and Recreation Department will be having swimming lesson sign ups on Monday, June 1 and Thursday, June 4 at the J I Stipe Center from 5-7 p.m. Everyone who would like to enroll in classes is invited.

Basketball League

The City of McAlester’s Parks & Recreation Basketball League for Men and Women will begin June 2. Entry fees will be $150 per team. Games will be Tuesday and Thursday nights beginning at 6:30 p.m. For information to enter a team please contact: Shannon at (918) 421-4922 or (918)423-9268.
