Savanna 34, Wilburton 15:
Lane Knight’s 32-yard touchdown pass put Wilburton on the board first, but Savanna responded with 28 unanswered points, powering the Bulldogs to their third win of the season and dropping the Diggers to 1-2.
“It motivates the kids, gets them to believe what they can do,” Savanna coach James Bond said.
Christian Preston led a dominating Bulldog ground game, scoring three of the team’s five touchdowns. Running back Chase Wood added two second-half touchdowns, scoring from 36 and 28 yards out.
“We had contributions from all three running backs,” Bond said. “Offensive and defensive lines played a good game. You have to get it done up front.”
Defensively, Savanna picked off four Wilburton passes, with Jimmy Sparks recording one interception and raising his season-total to six.
“Our conditioning was 10 times better than the first game,” Bond Said. “They’ve really taken to getting in shape.”
