Ada — McAlester's Lady Buffs got back above .500 with a 54-44 win over the Ada Lady Cougars in a road match Tuesday evening in Ada.

It completed a regular-season sweep for Coach Kris Wood's team, who beat Ada at Bob Brumley Gymnasium last month 48-34.

McAlester got out to a 3-0 lead in the opening seconds of the game, but Ada would answer back with a 6-0 run, taking a 6-3 lead.

Then the Lady Buffs would go on a 6-0 run of their own. The first would stay close, and end with McAlester holding a slim 11-10 lead.

In the second, juniors Kyla Adams and Ashton Santine each put in six points in the quarter, sophomore Jaci Bigham had her second trey, and Ryan Verner got a basket in outscoring Ada 19-9 over the eight minutes.

The field goal by Santine a little before the halftime buzzer sent McAlester into the break up by 11, 30-19.

During the game's third quarter, Bigham had five of her game-high 24 points. However, it would be the one quarter McAlester would lose to the Lady Cougars, 12-10, leaving McAlester up 9 points to start the fourth.

McAlester would shoot 5-of-9 from the charity stripe in the game's final stanza, and enough field goals to clinch the win with a 14-13 quarter, and a 54-44 final.

With the win, McAlester foes to 7-5, and remains undefeated in Southeast Six Conference play. McAlester next plays Saturday evening at Bishop McGuinness in Oklahoma City.
