The Miners continued their winning-streak Friday night at Heavener when the squeaked out a 7-6 victory. The win keeps Hartshorne undefeated for the season at 4-0 and 1-0 in district play in Class 2A.
Hartshorne scored its only points of the game in the first quarter. Quarterback Ricky Morgan finished the Miners’ only scoring drive of the game with a 3-yard TD run. Bryson Hall kicked the extra point to make it 7-0 in favor of the Miners.
With 7:47 left in the game, the Wolves looked to tie the game after a Ty Copeland 5-yard TD run but the extra-point attempt failed. The Miners escaped with a one-point victory.
“It was really a defensive struggle for both teams,” Hartshorne head coach Mike Reddick said. “We had some opportunities to score but we fumbled twice inside the 30-yard line and let them hang around.
“But, we are happy to be 4-0 and 1-0 in the district. The kids found a way to win and that is what counts right now.”
