WILBURTON — Things didn’t go as planned for the McAlester JV Saturday night when they took on the Panama Razorbacks in the Consolation final of the EOSC Tournament.

After trailing 17-4 after one minute of play, the Buffs were on the losing end of the contest after the full 32 minutes of play 64-44.

Will Gupton and Lee Boyle were the lone scorers in the first quarter for the JV, but the offense was able to match their opponents in the second, as both teams scored 12 points.

Boyle, Stephen Martin, Trevor Gray and Scott Stockton all helped McAlester pull to 29-16 at the half.

In the third, Martin led his team with eight points, including a 3-pointer, but the Razorbacks hit a surge, outscoring the Black and Gold 20-14, and building on their lead, as they were up 49-30 as they headed into the final stanza of play.

Jermaine Riddle and Jordan Anderson each put in six points in the last eight minutes of play.

Martin led the Buffs with 13 points, while Riddle, Gupton, Stockton and Anderson all finished the contest with six points.
