Editor:
I want to thank the News-Capital for recognizing Ron Dusenberry who you featured in your Sept. 12 issue on the front page.
However, Dusenberry is not a soldier. He is a McAlester Army Ammunition Plant employee who volunteered to serve in Iraq. He heads the Lean Six Sigma office at Balad, Iraq, in support of the warfighters.
In your photo Dusenberry is in full combat gear, thus easily mistaking him as a soldier. The combat gear is required for Department of the Army civilians when they fly in helicopters.
While no more honor could have been given Dusenberry than being identified as one of our soldiers, I wanted to ensure that your readers understand he is a Department of the Army civilian who is employed at McAlester Army Ammunition Plant and is voluntarily serving the warfighter in Iraq under combat conditions.
