Some items discovered during the search for missing local woman Holly Marie Cantrell on Saturday at Cardinal Pointe Recreation Area were believed at first to belong to Holly, but — with the exception of some paperwork — authorities don't believe the items recovered were Holly's.

Holly Cantrell went missing on Jan. 20. A hunter found her purse at Cardinal Pointe on Feb 25. On Saturday, a group of volunteers searched the Cardinal Pointe Recreation Area again. Pittsburg County Sheriff Chris Morris said the items that were recovered in the area were a shirt and a hair clip and some paperwork.

But McAlester police said they don't believe the shirt and hair clip are Holly's. Police said Cantrell's husband, Tommy Cantrell, said they did not belong to Holly.

Morris said all items recovered during the search were turned over to the McAlester Police Department for processing.

"I have received all the property that the Pittsburg County Sheriff's Office collected during the search," McAlester Police Department Detective Preston Rodgers said. "Everything that was collected from the search was looked over by Holly's husband and the hair clip and shirt did not belong to Holly, according to him."

Rodgers said the shirt that was found was actually ladies' undergarments but Cantrell's husband, Tommy Cantrell, said Holly did not own anything that looked like that.

Rodgers said the only property found that was in fact related to Cantrell was the paperwork found during the search that did come from the purse that was recovered on Feb. 25.

"The paperwork did come from the purse," Rodgers said. "We are continuing to follow any leads and we are working hard daily looking for new information."

Cantrell went missing on Jan. 20 when she left her job at the McAlester Regional Health Center to go to lunch at 11:56 a.m. Cantrell was seen on MRHC security video surveillance getting into a green, short wheel-base truck.

One lead indicated Cantrell was observed at a Braum's on U.S. Highway 69 at 12:20 p.m., but no one has reported to have seen or heard from her since.

Cantrell was born in 1976, and is described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing 145 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes and was last reported seen wearing green nursing scrubs.

Rodgers said MPD is currently following any and all leads and asked anyone with any information to call 918-423-1212.
