A McAlester woman died in a Tuesday morning single vehicle accident near Haywood, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Lacey Hill, 36, of McAlester, was pronounced dead at the scene from trunk and internal injuries received after the woman swerved to miss a deer and struck a four-foot-deep ditch.
The OHP report states Hill was driving a 2000 Chevrolet pickup east on State Highway 31 when the accident occurred one mile west of Haywood.
OHP states the woman was pinned by the vehicle for a total of 20 minutes before being extricated by the Haywood/Arpelar Fire Department.
A juvenile passenger was transported to McAlester Regional Health Center and was found to have no injuries.
According to the report, a seatbelt was not in use by Hill.
The accident was investigated by Trooper Tim Wesley with assistance from OHP Troop D Troopers Daniel Hackler, Ashby Sutherland, and Tim Baker of the OHP’s Traffic Homicide Unit.
