A man is dead and a woman was transported to a hospital after the truck they were in went off the Indian Nation Turnpike in Pittsburg County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Wesley Bumpers, 40, of Stigler, was pronounced dead at the scene Monday after the 2008 Dodge truck he was in struck the center median, departed the roadway and struck multiple trees around 6:45 p.m. that night, an OHP report states.
According to a report prepared by OHP Trooper Sean Mass, a Stigler woman who was in the vehicle at the time of the incident was transported to McAlester Regional Health Center and was listed in stable condition.
The report states the vehicle struck a curb on the center median and left the road on the right before hitting an embankment and multiple trees before coming to rest on the driver's side.
Mass wrote in the report that the incident is still under investigation.
The report states seatbelts were "Equipped/Not in use by either occupant" and airbags were ""Equipped/Deployed."
Roadway conditions were listed in the report as rainy and wet.
