Officials with McAlester Public Schools say a "rumored report" of a threat against the high school continues to be investigated.
MPS says the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office has a person of interest in custody.
According to a statement, MPS said officials were made aware Sunday night of a "rumored report" of a threat made against McAlester High School.
The district says while the situation remains under investigation, they will be working with the McAlester Police Department with plans to have additional security at MHS.
MPS posted the following statement to social media late Sunday night:
Tonight McAlester Public School officials were made aware of a rumored report of a school threat at the high school. Pittsburgh County Sheriff’s office has a person of interest in custody. Until we know more, McAlester Public Schools will be working with McAlester PD with plans to have additional security on campus at the high school tomorrow while authorities continue to investigate.
