5 THINGS TO KNOW: McAlester Boys and Girls Club 3rd annual Casino Night

Shari Bledsoe with the McAlester Boys and Girls Club gives details about Friday night’s fundraiser with the proceeds to benefiting the club.

1. What is casino night?

Casino night is a fundraiser for the club. We have a casino company that comes in from Tulsa and they set up gaming tables. We have blackjack, roulette, and craps.

2. What does it cost?

For $50, you get dinner and $1,000 in play money. With the play money, what you’re gambling for is tickets which will be dropped into a prize basket of your choice and at the end of the night, we draw winners for the prize baskets. We have a couple of side games so there is other opportunities to win some things throughout the evening along with door prizes.

3. Where do the proceeds go?

It helps us provide the programs that we have. We do our after-school program right now, we have about 120-140 kids everyday after school and we just wrapped up our summer program where we had 200 kids everyday.

4. How else does it help?

It helps us supply uniforms for our soccer, football, basketball teams and all their equipment and when the kids are here we feed them and get a snack everyday after school when they are here. When school is out they get breakfast and lunch. It just helps us maintain that.

5. How can people help the club?

We accept volunteers anytime they have a chance. You can help volunteer with coaching our sports teams. We like someone to come in and help with homework. Honestly, we accept volunteers of any kind. If they want to come in and help clean up the club or anything. The possibilities are endless.
