5 THINGS TO KNOW: Flea market in Old Town coming Saturday

KELCI MCKENDRICK | Staff photoMain Street Junction will be part of the upcoming Old Town Junk and Flea Market event.

Mandi Holt, owner of Main Street Junction, talks about the upcoming Old Town Junk and Flea Market event.

1. How often does this event happen?

Old Town Junk and Flea Market is held the third Saturday of every month from March to June. We will skip July and August and start again in September and October.

2. What items will be available?

Vintage items, decor, great finds, collectibles, handmade items, garage sale items, hunting and fishing supplies, homemade crafts, jewelry, antiques — too many fun things to mention. The vendors enjoy passing their great finds and artistry on to the locals.

3. How big is the event?

We usually have around 70 booths and various food trucks set up. It’s hard to tell how many people were at the market, but it’s a very large crowd — there’s something for everyone!

4. How can someone get involved?

It’s very easy to get involved. Stop by the store or give us a call at 918-558-7115. Booth spaces are only $10, and we offer non-profit organizations free space to set up! We have people from Oklahoma City, Muskogee, Eufaula, Tishimingo and numerous places around the state.

5. How does this benefit the community?

We feel like people are always excited to shop flea markets, and instead of having to go out of town, we’re bringing this fun event to Old Town McAlester, where we continue to grow the market and enjoy seeing new faces in our historic Old Town area.
