A motion to quash open record requests for video footage from a July 18 trooper-involved shooting has been filed.
District 18 District Attorney Chuck Sullivan filed Monday the motion to quash after the McAlester News-Capital and McAlester-based attorney Brecken Wagner filed open record requests for video recordings from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the McAlester Police Department that would show the pursuit and eventual shooting of Mark Anson Schoggins, according to court documents.
Sullivan’s motion states that he conferred with MPD and has determined that the entirety of the videos are redactable under the provisions of 51 O.S. § 24(A)(10)(b) and asks for the court to issue an order prohibiting the release of any video footage recorded by any officers who responded to the scene while the ongoing investigation and possible prosecution of the case are active.
