Jefferson Early Childhood Center is challenging the community to make a difference in the life of a child.
Choosing to promote reading while honoring the memory of Cameron Averitt Bobbitt, Jefferson students are running a book drive throughout the month of March.
“We started the book drive at Jefferson three years ago in memory of Cameron, and to help continue the wonderful work Susan and Derrick, Cameron’s parents, are doing,” said JEC teacher Heather Horton. “Whenever you can help to get books into the hands of children it’s a great thing.”
The little girl died in 2006 when she was hit by a car.
Donations to the book drive can be delivered to Jefferson Early Childhood Center, 501 South C Street, through the end of the month. For more information on Cameron’s Amazing Books, log on to www.cameronsamazingbooks.com.
