With the holidays behind us and a fresh new year before us it’s time to try something new.
Have you ever thought about starting a book club? The McAlester Public Library has been hosting book clubs for more than fifteen years, and has built up an impressive collection of titles to choose from. Multiple copies of past book club selections are available to check-out for your group to read and discuss. Jane Austen to H.G. Wells, inspirational to thriller, there is something for every reading preference. Some books include questions to help get the discussion started. Educational programming for kids gears up for the New Year this week. Toddlers and pre-K kids will be starting lessons on basic knowledge needed before kindergarten. Games, songs and activities will teach colors, the days of the week, all about holidays and the seasons. Toddler Time meets at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7th. The Wiggle Worms meet at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 10th.
Backyard Explorers will learn about Oklahoma animals that hibernate in winter. School aged children will meet with host Heath Stanfield from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 8th.
The Chess Club and Tales to Tails are scheduled for 3:30 p.m., Monday, January 6th.
Teens meet for Mixed Up Art, at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 8th. Teen Game Time is held Monday, January 6th and Friday, January 10th at 3:30 p.m. in the teen room.
The January Adult Craft Class will be held Thursday, January 9th, at 11 a.m. for the morning session, and 6 p.m. for the evening session. The project for that date has yet to be determined.
