Education spotlight: Destiny Collier

Destiny Collier

Tell us about your educational highlight, honor or accomplishment. What is it and how did you do it?

I remember the first time my principal told me I was going to attend an Advanced Placement conference. I was very excited to join the world of AP English and develop the skills I would need to teach those classes.

Why is this accomplishment important for you?

I love it when students are excited about learning and can respond to literature and writing in a deep and meaningful way.

How much did you have to work to accomplish this goal or honor?

I learned from some of the best teachers at McAlester--Kathy Wadsworth, Ila Pigg, Marilyn Thrasher, Darrell Pierce, Sue Green, Sue Anglin and my grandmother, Norma Fereday plus so many others. I love what I do because of them.

What plans do you have for the future?

I plan to keep on teaching for many years to come.
