Authorities released the identity of a man who died Wednesday while in the custody of the Latimer County Jail.
Investigators identified the inmate Thursday as Larry Gene Owens, 49, of Wister.
Steve Tanner, with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said agents were requested Wednesday morning by the Latimer County Sheriff Office to assist in the investigation into a deceased inmate.
Owens was pronounced dead at the Latimer County Jail after life-saving measures were exhausted, according to Tanner.
Latimer County District Court records show Owens was being held in the jail after being charged with feloniously pointing a firearm on Aug. 12.
