A McAlester woman was arrested and charged for a Thursday morning robbery of a local hotel.
Deanne Marie Caldwell, 53, was charged Nov. 7 with robbery with a dangerous weapon after she allegedly used a knife to rob the LaQuinta Inn and Suites for $213, according to court documents.
Records show Caldwell was being held Friday in the Pittsburg County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
According to a probable cause affidavit, officers received a report of a robbery at the LaQuinta Inn and Suites and that the suspect left in a white car.
While and officer pulled the vehicle over on South 14th Street, another officer met with the hotel clerk, who said that the suspect held a knife towards the clerk and “demanded her to giver her all the money,” the affidavit states.
The clerk told the officer that Caldwell said that “the driver of the car had a hold of her six-year-old daughter and forced her to do the robbery,” the affidavit states.
According to the affidavit, Caldwell was alone in the vehicle when it was stopped on South 14th Street and was identified as the robbery suspect from video of the incident.
After being placed in the patrol vehicle, Caldwell was “moving around a lot” in the backseat and was observed with her hands in between the seat and the back of the seat and when asked if she was trying to hide something, the woman said no, the affidavit states.
The report states the officer then took the woman out of the vehicle and found $213 under the seat where Caldwell was sitting.
A preliminary hearing conference for Caldwell is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Nov. 15.
