It didn’t even take one full half for Canadian to put Caddo away Friday night.
The Cougars (6-0, 1-0) welcomed the Bruins for the District B-5 opener, and made quick work with a 50-0 win with 1:36 left in the second quarter.
Quarterback Carson Thompson connected with Kole Poindexter for a 41-yard touchdown just 58 seconds in and that was the first of the quarterback’s five touchdown passes Friday night. Thompson found Jake Brewster for the two-point conversion, and 8-0 score but Canadian was just getting started.
The Cougars ended up scoring 30 points in the opening quarter, and 20 points in the second quarter to put the game to bed. Thompson connected with Terrell Crawford for a 22-yard touchdown pass. He threw again Crawford for the two-point conversion and ended the game.
Thompson was 10-of-10 passing for 219 yards and five touchdowns. The quarterback gained an additional 146 rushing yards and two scores on five carries.
Canadian is scheduled on Thursday to host Weleetka for Fall Break Week.
Hartshorne 32, Antlers 14
The Miners (2-4, 1-2) got their first District 2A-6 win of 2019 when they picked up their second victory this year in triumphing against the Bearcats.
Hartshorne is scheduled Oct. 17 to host Valliant. The Miners lost the 2018 edition, 60-26. Sophomore Bryson Cervantes had 12 carries for 90 yards rushing and two touchdowns in last year’s game. Sophomore Dallas Colbert and junior Javen Shaw also had rushing scores.
Atoka 45, Wilburton 6
The Diggers (5-1, 1-1) dropped their first loss of 2019 when they lost to their District 2A-6 rival Wampus Cats on the road Friday. The two teams now have an identical 5-1 record on the season,
Wilburton is scheduled to welcome Eufaula on Thursday. The Ironheads emerged victorious, 45-22, in 2018. Sophomore Grayson Mathis went 6-of-10 passing for 100 yards and two touchdowns in this game.
Savanna 14, Warner 6
The Bulldogs (2-3, 1-1) got their first District A-8 win of 2019 with a road win. They are next scheduled to on Thursday to welcome Porter Consolidated. Savanna lost the 2018 matchup, 38-8.
Destiny Christian 36, Quinton 0
The Savages (2-5) could not make it two wins in a row. They are scheduled to travel to Wellston on Thursday to try to get back on the winning tracks.
