Shooting

Investigators load evidence at the scene of a homicide investigation Saturday in McAlester.

Authorities made an arrest in a McAlester homicide investigation.

Pittsburg County Sheriff Chris Morris said a 16-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy found Saturday morning near an intersection in McAlester.

Morris said the suspect’s name will not be released pending a judge’s decision whether he is a youthful offender.

The body was found Saturday morning near the intersection of State Highway 113 and Mekko Road in northwest McAlester. The sheriff said shell casings were found at the scene and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation collected evidence in the area Saturday.

Morris urged anyone with information about the incident to call the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office at 918-423-5858.
