Dr. Thomas D. Judd, 73, of McAlester, died Thursday, July 16, 2009, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Shady Grove Community, with the Rev. Don Parr and Pastor Bob Ledford officiating. Burial will be at Shady Grove Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.

Born Dec. 16, 1935, in Boise, Idaho, he was the son of John F. Judd and Nelouise (Fisher) Judd. He married Bobbie Janele Le Baron on Dec. 6, 1957, in Fresno, Calif.

He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War and Cold War.

He received a doctor of theology, a degree in children’s literature and two English diplomas.

In February 2004, he moved to McAlester from Lakewood, Colo.

He was a Missionary Baptist Minister for 50 years. He served as pastor, missionary and educational administrator. He had two radio ministries, the “Faith of Our Fathers” program in Arkansas and “Pillars of Truth” in Modesto, Calif.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Janele Judd, of the home; his two sons, Timothy Darrel Judd and wife, Kari, Pueblo, Colo., and John Drew Judd, of McAlester.

Also, his brother, John K. Judd, Fresno, Calif.; sister, ElMyra Jane Judd and husband, Lou, Alamosa, Colo.; five grandchildren, Rebecca, Tammy, Connie, Shelley and Christopher, and seven great-grandchildren, other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nelouise Judd, and his son, James Andrew Judd, on Nov. 17, 1979, in Fresno, Calif.

Pallbearers will be Timothy D. Judd, Paul Hamilton, David Fuller, Gregg Gann, Doyle Morris and Micah Morris.
