McALESTER — The Oklahoma Transportation Commission has awarded a $15 million contract to replace the Interstate 44 bridge over 177th East Avenue near Catoosa.
The commission voted Monday to award the project to Sherwood Construction, which will also widen the highway from four to eight lanes.
The Tulsa World reports that construction will likely begin in late spring and last about 15 months.
The commission awarded a total of $174 million for 55 projects at its meeting Monday. Other projects include a $51 million contract to widen about five miles of Interstate 40 between Oklahoma City and Yukon. That project is scheduled to last about 20 months and will conclude the widening of the I-40 corridor between Oklahoma City and El Reno.
