Poker run set for May 10

McALESTER — The second annual poker run benefiting the Bache Red Oak Cemetery Association is set for May 10 starting at 9 a.m.

Last year some $500 was raised from the poker run, according to Larry “Charlie Brown” Browning organizer of the event.

He said until last year he had never heard of a poker run for a cemetery but he decided to organize the event because it would be a great way to raise money for the association.

Meanwhile, sign-ups for the run will be from 9 to 10 a.m. May 10 and an entry fee of $15 includes lunch after the run.

At 10 a.m. the Choctaw Nation Honor Guard will kick-off the run with the Posting of the Colors followed by a 21-gun-salute in honor of all veterans and all those who presently serve, Browning said.

The route will start at the cemetery off State Highway 270 in Bache and stop in Hartshorne, Wilburton, Quinton and Krebs.

He said the final stop will be back at the cemetery where lunch will be served and prizes awarded.

Browning said a 50/50 payout will depend on the number of entries.

Last year more than 50 participants took part in the run, he said.

“We are hoping more people with take part this year.

The ride is open to anyone with any type of motor vehicle.

Donations are also being accepted at First National Bank of McAlester.

The cemetery is off State Highway 270 in Bache.

For more information call Browning at 918-429-8411 or Heathcock at 918-423-6570.
