Ladies Luncheon set for April 17

McALESTER — The 42 Annual Women’s Holy Week Salad Luncheon is set for Maundy Thursday, April 17.

The free event is open to all women.

During the luncheon hundreds of women gather at the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple on Second and Adams for an afternoon of music, a motivational speaker and a huge variety of salads to chose from for lunch.

As in years past, this year ladies will once again need to know the following information;

— All ladies are welcome to attend the luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple on Second and Adams.

— There is no charge for the luncheon.

— Ladies who do not work outside the home are asked to bring a large salad and plan to arrive by 11:15  with their salad.

— The dish should have their name on it so that it can be returned.

— Serving utensils will be provided.

— Ladies working outside the home should plan to arrive at 11:30.

The luncheon is planned each year by a group of ladies from six McAlester churches.

The First Baptist Church selected this year’s speaker, Glenette Russell wife of First Baptist Pastor Tim Russell.

The host church this year first Presbyterian Church.

Karen Kinkead of the First Presbyterian will be the Mistress of Ceremonies and the music will being arranged by First Methodist.

And, the decorations for the event will be coordinated this year by St. John’s.

This year’s organizers are Kinkead, First Presbyterian; Christina Thurber, All Saints Episcopal; Sue Parham and Carol Durant ,First Baptist; Liz Flesher, Gloria Basinger and Peggy Grippando, St. John the Evangelist Catholic and representatives from First Christian and First Methodist Churches.

They’ll compete Friday through Monday at the USSSA All American Games at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Fla.
