Four people were injured Monday morning in a two-vehicle accident at mile marker 48 on the Indian Nation Turnpike, Pittsburg County, officials say.
The accident happened a 9:52 a.m. according to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The OHP says a vehicle driven by Jerry Slayter, 78, of Pineville La. was northbound on the Indian Nation Turnpike when it hydroplaned, crossed the median, spun a half turn and struck a southbound vehicle driven by Ellen Edelman of Lafayette, La.
Slayter and her passenger Robert Williams, 82 of Delhi, La were both injured with head and trunk injuries and transported to McAlester Regional Health Center, according the OHP report
Edelman was transported to OU medical center where she was listed in critical condition with head, leg and trunk injuries, the report states.
A second passenger in her vehicle, Nathan LeBlanc, 31, of Crowley, La. was treated and released from McAlester Regional Health Center with minor injuries, according to the OHP report.
His daughter, Aleigha Leblanc, 6, was transferred to OU Medical Center where she was listed in critical condition with multiple injuries, the report states.
All of those involved in the accident were wearing seat belts except the 6-year-old girl, according to the report.
