Organization needs 500 cans donated for event

McALESTER — Canned food donations are needed to help with the Pittsburg County American Cancer Society Relay for Life fundraiser, organizers say.

The Relay for Life is set for June 20 at Rotary Park.

“The cans are used to anchor our luminaries so we can light up the night,” said organizer Valerie Lalli.

She said more than 500 cans are needed for the event.After the event she said all the canned food will be donated to a local food bank.

Cans can be dropped off at the McAlester Area Tulsa Cancer Institute, 901 N. Strong Blvd.

The institute is on the campus of McAlester Regional Health Center.
