McAlester runs over Noble in district-opener

McALESTER — Jarome Smith rushed for two touchdowns, returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown and recovered a bad snap off a punt in the end zone for a touchdown. Riley Smith rushed for three touchdowns, and Seth Grant added another.

The McAlester Buffaloes purged three weeks' worth of frustrating losses, blowing out the Noble Bears at Hook Eales Stadium on Friday night, 70-42.

Mason Bumphus intercepted a first-quarter pass and forced a second-quarter fumble, ripping the ball away from Noble receiver Devin Wheeler and returning it 27 yards for a second-quarter touchdown that made it 35-28 and gave the Buffaloes the lead for good.
