Happy New Years- Baby!

McALESTER — The first baby born at McAlester Regional Health Center this year was little Braedon Charles Dakota Stites.

Braedon was born at 8:41 a.m. on New Year’s Day to McAlester residents Martin Stites and Lacey Johnson.

Johnson said she was excited when she learned Braedon was due on Jan. 1 because that’s her birthday too.

“I was the first baby born at McAlester Regional Health Center on Jan. 1, 1988,” Johnson said.

She said her baby boy weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces and was 19 inches long when he made his big debut on New Year’s Day.

She said Braedon also has a 2-year-old sister Rhiannon.

“I’m very busy these days,” Johnson said.

Johnson said she went into labor at 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 31 and Braedon was born — just as expected — on Jan. 1.
