McALESTER — The honors program at Eastern Oklahoma State College will host the upcoming lecture, The Feminine Voice of Islam: Muslim Women in America, at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the President’s Dining Room in the Student Center on the Wilburton campus.

Dr. Najwa Raouda will read from her book and discuss the role of American Muslim women in society and the Muslim world at large according to Honors Program Director Ruth Askew Brelsford.

“She will share her own fascinating life story,” Brelsford said. “There will be books available for purchase and punch and cookies after the book signing, courtesy of the Latimer County Arts Council.”

The author teaches for Oklahoma State University in Stillwater and Tulsa, and the University of Tulsa.  Her areas of expertise include conflict and post-conflict resolution due to her experiences in her native Lebanon.

Brelsford said the events in the President’s Dining Room are all open to the public.
