Tulsa aviation student dies in off-campus shooting

McALESTER — TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Authorities in Tulsa say an 18-year-old aviation student is dead after a shooting at an off-campus apartment complex.

Police say the shooting happened Thursday night at a north Tulsa apartment complex across the street from Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology.

The Tulsa World reports ( ) that 18-year-old Chaz Fain was killed in the shooting. Three other students were hurt, but police say their injuries aren’t life-threatening.

Authorities say all four were attending a “social gathering” at one of the apartments. Police later arrested 41-year-old Mark Hopkins on one complaint of first-degree murder and three complaints of shooting with intent to kill.

Hopkins remains in the Tulsa County jail, and authorities did not know if he had an attorney.
