MOORE — Police have arrested a Moore student after finding a loaded handgun at an elementary school.
The sixth-grader was taken Monday to the Cleveland County Detention Center. Police say they believe the 12-year-old student obtained the .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol from a grandfather.
Oklahoma City police Capt. Dexter Nelson said the gun held six rounds. A report on the case will be presented to the district attorney and police say multiple charges could be filed.
Nelson said police didn't know why the student had the gun. The student showed the weapon to another student, who notified someone with the school. The school notified police, according to the Norman Transcript.
The school is in the Moore School District but within the Oklahoma City city limits, which is why Oklahoma City police responded.
