World Boxing Union World Lightweight Champion and Oklahoma native Noah Zuhdi, now 17-1, 13 KOs, successfully defended his world title knocking out challenger Gyula Vajda, 12-4, 8 KOs, of Hujdahdhaza, Hungary at 1:09 of the second round at the Lucky Star Casino in Concho, Oklahoma, Saturday, September 24. Zuhdi, who follows in the footsteps of such former WBU world champion fighters as Thomas Hearns, George Foreman and Mickey Ward, subject of the Academy Award winning film "The Fighter," has impressed Don "Moose" Lewis, president of the WBU, who was present to sanction the fight. "Oklahoma should be proud of their champion Noah Zuhdi," he said, "and I look forward to watching this wonderful fighter any time he’s in the ring. He is a world class individual with quick wits, a hard charging style and a lot of heart."
