Shooting suspect held on $200K bond

StatePoint — A Muskogee man charged with shooting a 5-year-old in the back was ordered held on $200,000 bond Tuesday.

Kenneth Wayne Jones, 20, of Muskogee, turned himself in at the police station Monday evening after it was announced he was a suspect in the shooting of the child at Whispering Pines apartments late Saturday night.

Jones is accused of firing three shots into the back of a car occupied by the child’s mother, a man and the child, according to an affidavit filed in the case.

The child, who was hit in the back by one bullet, was reportedly doing well and in good condition at a Tulsa hospital on Monday, police said.

Jones returns to court at 9 a.m. July 30 for a sounding docket.
