NORMAN — Today, could be an historic day for the Oklahoma football program. A victory over Iowa State at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa, would give OU head coach Bob Stoops 145 career victories.

That would tie him with legendary Sooner coach Bud Wilkinson for No. 2 on the all-time list.

Stoops has a career record of 144-36 halfway through his 14th season.

Any time an OU coach comes close to matching what Wilkinson did during his 17 seasons at OU from 1947-1963, he is reaching rarified air.

Wilkinson went 145-29-4, winning national championships in 1950, 1955 and 1956.

Barry Switzer is OU's all-time leader in wins with a 157-29-4 career record from 1973-88.
