NORMAN — Times have changed in the Big 12 Conference. It was very apparent after Saturday's games that defense is what separates the upper echelon of the conference from everyone else.
There are five teams giving up less than 400 yards per game — Texas Tech, Oklahoma, TCU, Kansas State and Oklahoma State. Those teams are a combined 21-10 in conference play.
The teams that are allowing over 400 — Texas, Iowa State, Kansas, West Virginia and Baylor — are 10-21 in league play.
It's a good trend for the Sooners as they prepare to face West Virginia at 6 p.m. on Saturday in Morgantown W.Va.
The Mountaineers are giving up 478.1 yards per game.
The bad news for the Sooners is the last two games on their scheduled — OSU on Nov. 24 and TCU on Dec. 1 — are against teams allowing less than 400 yards per game.
