The Lady Buffs softball team did exactly what you wanted at a scrimmage — to blow off the rust and work out the kinks. Though the loss to Blanchard was an ego-blowing score of 16-4, the scrimmage held its purpose Monday afternoon, and perfectly prepped the team for its season opener today in Bixby.

The Lady Buffs momentum slowed after a lead-off single by Whitney Anderson in the first inning, and a caught line-drive by pitcher Shay Griffin in the second. Griffin had several hit back to her at the mound, including one that caught her just below the ribs in the bottom of the fourth.

Everything picked up in the bottom of the third with Ashton Santine and Jaci Bigham both hitting singles down the left-field line.

Ashley Trammell began pitching in the fifth when Bigham and Porsha Green paired up with a couple of doubles.

The final score was harsh, but with the kinks and rust loosened, the young Lady Buffs season remains hopeful.
