VALLIANT — Savanna recorded their second win of the season on the road Friday night when they were able to squeak by the Bulldogs from Valliant.

The Savanna Bulldogs got on the scoreboard first with a 35-yard field goal by senior tight end Matt Henry. 

The field goal was set up by an interception by sophomore defensive back Garry Don Meadows. 

Valliant didn’t wait long to return the favor on a 35-yard scoring run by senior Nathan Whitaker after a fumble recovery. 

The second quarter started off with a 65-yard touchdown run by senior wide receiver Lamont Dana. 

A 20-yard run by senior quarterback Grant Jordan took the score to Savanna 16 and Valliant 6. 

Valliant didn’t waste any time getting back on the board with a 45-yard flea flicker to senior Nathan Whitaker. 

A touchdown run by Savanna’s Jordan brought the half to an end with Savanna leading 22-14.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Valliant Bulldogs scored with 8:20 left in the contest to take the score to Savanna 22, Valliant 20. 

A 40-yard interception run back by Dana moved the score to 29-20 favoring the Savanna Bulldogs. 

Valliant scored on a short pass to sophomore wide receiver Matt Robinson with 34 seconds left on the clock to end the scoring. 

Savanna came home with their first district win, 29-28.  The Savanna Bulldogs look to keep up their winning ways at home next week against Heavener. Game time is 7:30.
