PRYOR — The McAlester Buffaloes went 1-1 in pool play Friday afternoon, after Thursday’s game was postponed due to weather.

Starting off with Miami, the Buffs jumped out strong, leading 9-2 after five and one-half innings of play.

But a grand slam homerun from Taylor Clark, put the Wardogs to within 9-6.

But behind the bats of Anthony Trevino, Dillon Hackler and Kyle Williams, the Buffs added a little security in the top of the sixth, ultimately winning the first game of the afternoon 12-8.

Trevino started on the mound for McAlester, pitching six full and a third innings before Tanner Wood came in for the close.

McAlester’s bats were hot in the first contest, recording nine hits, including a 3 RBI home run from senior Casey Gibson and a solo shot from fellow senior Dillon Hackler. Williams finished the contest with a triple and a double, while Jon Andrew Martin and Hackler each connected on doubles.

Greenwood 9, McAlester 7

In the second ballgame of the afternoon, the Bulldogs of Greenwood, Arkansas changed their fate with a bottom of the sixth, grand-slam homerun to take the lead and eventual win over the Buffaloes.

After scoring off of a two RBI homer from pitcher Riley Hance in the top of the second, the Buffaloes built up a 5-1 lead headed into the bottom of the third.

But the Bulldogs began to slowly comeback, tying the ballgame at 5, with back-to-back homeruns in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The sixth inning grand-slam put the game at 9-5 heading into McAlester’s last at-bat.

Sophomore, Cameron Green got things going after taking a pitch. Williams reached base on a throwing error that was followed by a walk for Gibson.

Martin stepped up with a two RBI rip up the middle to close the gap, 9-7 but the Bulldogs recorded three outs before anymore Buffalo scoring took place.

The Buffs accumulated seven hits and committed no errors in the contest.

McAlester was scheduled to play Cascia Hall Saturday morning to determine their place-game later that afternoon. Look to Monday’s News-Capital for the final results from the tournament.
