Lady Buffs are ready to start softball season

By GLEN ELLER
Sports Editor

The McAlester High School Lady Buffs softball team have been practicing for nearly two weeks and they are starting to come together, according to MHS softball head coach Jackie Cumbie.

The Lady Buffs have their first game Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at the Pittsburg County Softball Complex. They will play against Heavener and Coalgate.

“As young as we were last year, it’s amazing, but we are younger this year. We don’t have a senior on our squad this year and only three juniors. The rest of our team consists of sophomores and freshmen players. We have 10 players on our team that are freshmen,” coach Cumbie said.

Cumbie added that the girls have worked hard, practiced well and are excited about the upcoming season.

The Lady Buffs will start their season with a home-opener Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. against Heavener and Coalgate at the Pittsburg County Softball Complex.
