Friday’s opening day of the Junior Sunbelt Classic saw three three teams go a perfect 2-0 and two teams go winless.
The other four squads remained in the middle with one win and one loss under their belts heading into Saturday play.
In the tournament’s first day of play Georgia proved to be the most dominant offensively, outscoring their opponent 21-9.
Texas, however, was not only able to get the runs on the scoreboard, but they held their opponents to only three scores throughout the day.
As one of the top teams at the Junior Sunbelt Classic Friday, Arizona started off their prowl beating the Missouri with a 9-5 win.
They then followed with a high-scoring win over Mississippi 10-7.
Arizona’s Riccio Torrez hit a home-run in the third to help with the win despite Mississippi’s Paxton Pace hitting a home-run in the first and Tyler Vick hitting a homer in the third and fifth inning.
California, Canada, Mississippi and Tennessee all went 1-1, while Missouri and both Oklahoma teams went winless.
