MHS track members medal at state

Several members of the the McAlester High School track Team medaled at the recent Class 5A State Track meet in Ardmore.

For the boys, Jordan Anderson placed first in the long jump with a leap of 22-07.50 feet.

Anderson also placed fourth in the high jump with a height of 6-02.00 feet.

The Buffs relay teams did well placing fifth in the 400 meter relay with a time of 43.26, sixth in the 1600 meter relay with a 3:29.55 and sixth in the 3200 meter relay with a 8:38.28 time.

Don Brown placed third in the 400 meter dash with a 50.29 running time.

Herman Walters placed sixth in the 100 meter dash for the Buffs with a time of 11.18.

For the girls, Tiara Johnson placed second in the long jump with a leap of 17-02.00 feet. Johnson’s jump was also a McAlester High School record jump.

Megan Billows placed third in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 48.26.

Deah Wood placed sixth in the pole vault with a height of 8-06.00 feet.

“It was extremely strong state meet and I am very proud of how our athletes performed at the meet,” McAlester High School head track coach Richard Carney said.

“The talent level was phenomenal at this meet.”
