Goals met.
McAlester High School golf coach Jon Freeman has a lot of pride in his young golf team.
The Buffs had one goal in mind at the start of this years golf season — making the Class 5A state tournament.
Not only did the Buffs make the tournament, they placed 10th overall as a team.
“The golf team has been making steady progress over the last two years and making the state tournament really is a big accomplishment this year,” Freeman said.
“We played three sophomores and a freshman at the tournament. These guys should be able to keep improving and gaining experience which is a big factor at these tournaments.
“There is a lot of spectators at the tournament and there are college coaches everywhere. It’s really an exciting atmosphere for our players.”
Members of the Buffs team include: Colby Mowat, Joseph Robinson, Miles Tarron, Casey Fernandez and Ian Naylor.
“It’s always hard to compete for a state championship, but our players are so young I really look for good things in the future. As they keep playing, getting better and keep making the state tournament they will gain experience and feel more comfortable playing at this level.
“This year will really help them in the future,” said Freeman.
