Shawnee - Shawnee could not withstand McAlester on the Wolves' home field Friday evening, and the Buffaloes took an 8-2 win home with them in the last road trip of the regular season.
McAlester's senior Justin Klusak went the distance on the mound in getting the win, liminting the Wolves to only three hits during the contest
One unfavorable note in the game was errors. McAlester had eight runs on eigt hits, but was charged with four errors. Shawnee had a pair of first-inning runs, and ended up with three hits and being charged with two errors.
With one out in the top of the first, McAlester second baseman Chad Barnett got aboard after being hit by a pitch. After a second out on a fly ball, cleanup hitter Anthoiny Trevino delivered one over the right field fence at about 310 feet for a 2-0 lead.
The home school would come back and tie things up in the bottom of the first, knotting it at 2-2. It wouldn't stay that way for long, as McAlester resumed scoring in the top of the second.
With one out and the bases loaded, a sacrifice fly from sophomore catcher Tyler Crabtree for McAlester drove in a run, followed by an RBI single for Barnett.
The score would stay with McAlester leading 4-2 until the top of the fourth. A Wolves' error allowed a McAlester run to score, then another Buffalo run came accros the plate on a Shawnee passball. Trevino would complete the scoring of the fourth with a single that drove in a run.
Some changes in the lineup occurred during the game, and Matt Mason drove in what would prove to be the final run of the game in the top of the fifth, on a sacrifice fly.
Shawnee never got a run accross the plate after the first inning, and only had one base hit and four total get on base after the second inning, and two of those were on errors.
It was also a quick game, going about two hours in a complete seven-inning contest.
