Two Wilburton High School seniors were recognized as Students of the Month for February by members of the Wilburton Kiwanis Club. The students were special guests during the club’s Wednesday, February 26 meeting held in the Student Life Center on the campus of Eastern Oklahoma State College. Michalina Sokolosky, left, is the daughter of Johnny and Sherri Sokolosky. She attends Wilburton High School where she is a member of the Lady Digger basketball team, science club, Spanish club, National Honor Society, Oklahoma Honor Society, FBLA, student council and yearbook. She has served as National Honor Society secretary, science club treasurer, co-captain of the basketball team, student council representative and yearbook photo editor. She was selected as a delegate to Oklahoma Girl’s State and served as Knight City’s county clerk and the county commissioner of Clingenpeel County. She was also the 2013-2104 football Homecoming Queen. Sokolosky is a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary and has assisted with the Red Cross blood drive and has volunteered as a 3rd grade teacher’s aide. She enjoys being outdoors, fishing, basketball and reading.  She plans to attend Eastern Oklahoma State College to play basketball and pursue a degree in nursing. She then plans to continue her education at the University of Oklahoma to become a physician’s assistant. Tyler Stafford, right, is the son of Linda Stafford.  He attends Wilburton High School where he is a member of the Digger football and powerlifting teams. He has also been involved in service learning. Stafford is active in mixed martial arts.  He plans to work in the oil and gas industry at A&P Drilling.
