Programs offer a chance to learn, grow

Each year our office provides classroom enrichment programs for schools. These programs are offered free of charge. The programs are available for any professional working with youth, whether in a classroom setting or otherwise. Our brochures for our programs have either already been delivered to your local school system or will be delivered in a short period of time. These programs are offered by Mike Carter, LaDell Emmons, and me.

Programs are available in a variety of subject matter and for a variety of different grades. Programs offered by the 4-H department are as follows: Careful with Strangers, for Kindergarten through third grade.

The curriculum includes Health and Social Studies. Program length is for about one class period; Ag. in the Classroom, for Kindergarten through fourth grade, covering the curriculum of science, math, language arts, social studies and art. Multiple programs may be taught from the teacher’s handbook; Beginning of Life for grades K-6 covering the curriculum of science. Chicken eggs will be delivered in the months of February and March. Incubators must be supplied by the teacher; Character Counts or Step Up to Leadership for grades K-12 covering the curriculum of social studies, science and language arts. This is a multi-part program that can be taught in three to six sessions per class; Tornado Safety for grades K-6 covering the curriculum of science. The program may be taught in one classroom session; Express Yourself! for grades 3-12 discussing effective communication skills for students. It includes three units of teaching time; Bullying, Teasing and Put-downs: What can victims do? This program is for grades 4-8, and covers the curriculums of science, health and social science. The program takes about one class period; Keeping Fit for grades 4-12 includes three units. The program is designed to help youth design a personal fitness plan; Fear Factor for grades 5-12 covers the curriculum of social studies. The program can be taught in one class period; Decision Making through Judging for grades 6-12. The program helps youth make decisions based on standards.

The program can be completed in one class period; True Colors for grades 6-12 covers the curriculum of social studies, psychology and sociology. The program includes a personality test and may be completed in one class period; Teenagers, Stress and How to Cope is for grades 7-12, and covers the curriculum of social studies, and family and consumer sciences. The program can be completed in one class period; What is Your Drug I.Q.? This program is for grades 7-12 and covers the curriculum of social studies and family and consumer sciences. The program may be completed in one class period and discusses substance abuse; Danger Signs is designed for grades 8-12 and covers the curriculum of social studies and health. The program can be completed in one class period; Planning a Career is Real Work for grades 9-12 covers the curriculum of social studies and family and consumer sciences. The program may be completed in one class period.
